“I went there”
In 1933, Warner Brothers (Not to be confused with the other Warner Brothers...and sister.) saw that their cartoons weren't as funny as the ones that Disney made. Bosko was simply unfunny, even for his time because he looked too much like a Monkey and at that time, monkeys were unfunny...and stupid. And Buddy was never a star because he too was unfunny, even after the Warners took care of him.
So on that day, the Warners would build Acme Looniversity, a College for funny and humorous cartoons. Their first student was Donald Duck since at the time he was stupid and not funny. And was actually the first true graduate in Acme Looniversity, as Class of '34. He would later tell his other two friends Joe Carioca and Panchito about Acme Looniversity, and no one else. Even today, Mickey Mouse never knew that Donald Duck and his friends were graduates of Acme Looniversity.
Through the Years
Every Looney Tunes character has been part of the alumnus of Acme Looniversity, there was even a requirement that if you were to be on Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies, you have to graduate from Acme Looniversity. But graduating was very easy, all you have to do is stay there for a year and make your students laugh. Failing to do so meant you had to stay for another year, and Daffy Duck holds the record for being there the longest, staying between 1933 and 1949 (though he did get grandfathered into Looney Tunes in 1937).
In 1941, the building that you see on Tiny Toons was completed and not a moment too soon...Perfecto would say a lot of profanity to this school...and so the rivalry of Acme Looniversity and Perfecto Prep would begin. Most of Perfecto would later play for the Pittsburgh Steelers-Philadelphia Eagles in 1942 callimg themselves the "Steagles". And a year later, as the Card-Pitt, but after that...they sold their souls to the Steelers.
1958 became the year that Acme Looniversity would have many foreign cartoons from Soviet Union and Loopy de Loop as their alumni. The school became a Red and Black scare because they wouldn't accept Black people but they would accept Red People. But a light at the end of the tunnel came when a few American alumnus such as Rocky and Bullwinkle and Quick Draw McGraw. The Black and Red Scare ended in 1960, but the only Black Alumni from Acme Looniversity was Mary Melodie.
In 1989, desperate for people who want to get animated, Warner Brothers made a cartoon called "Tiny Toon Adventures". This cartoon shows what goes on in Acme Looniversity and it featured Buster Bunny and Babs Bunny (no relation). These 'toons would graduate in 1992 once the show ended. There would be a Graduation Episode, but when Buster Bunny would wish he would've never been animated...they used that for an episode instead.
