[edit] The Britney Paradox
The so-called Britney Paradox is a fundamental problem in physics whereby an object disappears for a certain length of time, and reappears, physically different (or enhanced, so to speak), and despite all evidence to the contrary, the object does not acknowledge these changes. This phenomenon is known as the Britney transformation. Science is unable to explain how an object may change (become larger, or perkier, etc.) dramatically in the absence of observation, but as with most scientists, the pioneers in this field got bored and decided to try and mingle with society and possibly get girlfriends.
Ironically, the resulting lack of interest prompted a second dramatic discovery, that is that taking an object from an environment of constant attention and observation and leaving it alone results in a dramatic reversion of the changes that previously occurred. Things may begin to sag, or bloat, etc. This effect is known as the inverse Britney transformation, or the Charlotte Church effect
However at this point the phenomenon itself had experienced the jump the shark effect and was no longer studied.
