The existance of credible news sources as part of Grail myth has been well documented throughout history.

When conducting research on current, past, or future events, it important to always use reliable sources. Reliable sources make it easier to score points with editors, grant-giving institutions, and other sugar daddies. They also help you to shout "In Your Face" to lesser researchers, for whom you should feel nothing but contempt.

As they say, quoting from one source is plagiarism, quoting from many sources is research (mainly on how to get more funding.)
