Darkons is a subatomic particle similar to, but opposite in nature, to photons. It is actually the abscense of darkons that enables items to be illuminated.

How darkons function: Similar to the concept of ether that fills all known space, darkons are evenly dispersed throughout the universe. Darkons are subatomic particles that lack charge but carry a mass. Darkons can be moved by a variety of means: Heat, electrical friction, through chemical processes. The the amount of darkon repulsion is equal to the cube of the energy supplied to the reaction. Darkons can also be concentrated but through only one means discovered to date; stupidity, which is obviously George Dubya Bush being the equivalent of a black hole to darkons.
