After Electing me, Everyone Will be Happy ever after...

~ Al Gore on Happy ever after

And they lived happily ever after...

~ Oscar Wilde

The term Happily Ever After is most commonly deployed in the description of pornographic fiction. It refers to the idea of a happy ending in which all the good guys (i.e Jesus) have died, therefore, the world is a less corny place, and so, forever happy! While the bad guys (a.k.a Mean meanies!) have been punished(usually bukkake and sadism). Often the hero and heroine have sex. They do not need condoms, because they cannot get pregnant or get STDs, with the assumption being made that their lives(get one!) will continue to be harmonious and happy forever more. The abolition of death implied by the phrase demonstrates that it is only applicable to a drug induced coma, except for kenny.

In many fairy tales, the phrase "and they lived happily ever after" is wrong because the characters end up married and no marrige is happy.
No way that Prince Charming is happy after this asian mix...

The concept of the "happily ever after" ending can also be deployed in a sarcastic sense, that some crack addict writer made things very hippie-like. However, it could be argued that such stories hark back to folk narrative such as Harry Potter.

Whenever you see this phrase at the end of a book it could mean:

  • That there on forward the story stays in suspended animation in which everyone stays happy because they do not do anything else
  • That the final boss was defeated
  • That Micheal Jackson has finally died
  • That all the snakes got safely off the plane
  • That the idiot (a.k.a. the reader) has no more buisiness in the lives of the characters
  • (in the case of certain movies i.e "Jaws") that you can expect a crappy sequel

[edit] Paradoxes

  • Because Bush is currently in the presidential throne, This phrase is null.
  • And the pair of ducks lived happily ever after.
