Kami is a South African female Muppet on Sesame Street with AIDS.

Kami was an active anti-apartheid activist in her native South Africa and once worked as a bodyguard for Nelson Mandela.

Proud of her heritage, Kami engaged in a traditional proof of virginity celebration [1] and was thus targeted and raped by Hellmo, who believed a local urban legend that sex with a virgin would cures his AIDS.[2] It was then that she became HIV+.
[edit] Coming to America
She has sinced moved to the New York and became an outspoken AIDS activist. She got a job on Sesame Street, but because the Muppet health plan is so bad, she couldn't afford life saving drugs and now has full-blown AIDS. Recently, she has been linked romantically to Whoopi Goldberg.

Her unabashedness of her newfound alternative lifestyle has earned Kami the ire of Fred Phelps, who has failed in assassinating her on six different occations.
