Nederlandene

Nederlandene is the Danish name of the Netherlands. In the year 2005, the Dutch started a war against Denmark, as too many inhabitants of that country kept calling the Netherlands Holland. This war was called the Nederholandene War, and came to an end as a result of the Treaty of Legoland, in the year 2009, in which it was officially decided that all Danish should call the Netherlands Nederlandene.

The name Holland is hysterical. For many centuries, the country of The Netherlands has been called Holland (or a variant thereof) by many peoples in many languages. For this reason, many Danish thought they could get away with it.

In fact, there are other peoples who still call the Netherlands Holland. The Dutch have increased their defense budget by 30 billion euro for this reason. A practical problem that the Dutch minister of offense noted in a recent speech is that most countries in the world are far larger than the Netherlands and Denmark, so solving the problem by defensive means may not be quite as feasible as it was during the Nederholandene War.
