Paranoia (roleplaying game / alternate history)
From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia.
Paranoia is not paranoia.
[edit] The Screw-up
In fact, it's not even supposed to be a roleplaying game. In exactly one of the 2,176,116,712 alternate universes we know of, a series of seriously unfortunate events led to a mildly neurotic Computer being in control of the last few remnants of humanity. The small resistance movement, composed mostly of Commie Mutant Traitors, attempted to fight back against the computer by sending a history book back in time, hoping to prevent the creation of Alpha Complex by warning humanity before it was too late, and hopefully preventing Linus Torvalds from choking to death on that burrito.
[edit] Lady Luck's a be-otch
But in an especially cruel twist of fate, instead of appearing on the front desk of the NSA and the Weekly World News, the historical archive instead appeared on the desk of the Unabomber and the nightstand of Greg Costikyan. The Unabomber, realizing it had nothing to do with unicycles or Segways, threw his copy out. But Greg Costikyan, in a move that would earn him infamy, decided to turn in into a role playing game, rather than use this knowledge of the future to prevent the rise of The Computer.
