A Protagonist is the one around whom all the story is formed or developed. The word Protagonist is derived from two greek words: proto meaning the fucker of the hottest and agonononos meaning the killer of the gods. Usually in a story, protagonist is the hero but this is not necessary. The protagonist might not even appear in the story at all. Said thus, the very first example of a potagonist is God from Divine Comedy The Dark Lord Sauron never appeared in the story
