The title of this article begins with a capital letter because computers are trying to take over the Earth, so pretend it says sci.* hierarchy.
Created in 1984 by the Backbone Cabal, the sci.* hierarchy is a major class of newsgroups in Usenet, containing all newsgroups that are scientific. Anything you read on such a newsgroup is automatically true.
