The Fox and the Hound, originally Kitsune to Ryōken; also known as Fox of Death, is the most successful Japanese movie EVER. Directed by Don Bluth, it's also the first (and only) Japanese movie produced by Disney. Based on a book with the same title by Danbel Pee Matrix, the story entails a fox kit named Todd and a bloodhound puppy named Copper. They become best friends, while their owners are neo-conservative fundamentalist Christians. Copper thinks Todd killed his dad Chief so he swears revenge. Then they go through a series of misfortunate events which ultimately prove that they shouldn't have broken their friendship in the first place. The Fox and the Hound won several awards in 1985 including Best animal feature, Best Animated feature involving talking animals and Best cuteness scene.

Like Don Bluth's other masterpiece, The Land Before Time, the film eventally gave birth to many direct-to-video sequels, however they are not as good as the first movie. The best one was The Fox and the Hound Steal Money, however the one after it, The Fox and the Hound 2, fucking sucked. It did very poorly considering the fact that the sequel jumped in the middle of the plot of the first and had a very crappy storyline (see List of Worst 100 Direct-to-Video Movies of All Time). However, it followed by a much better sequel, The Fox and the Hound: Death Revenge, which became more successful than the previous crap, making it $50 million beyond the copies of the film.

[edit] In the Begining

Scene 2 of the movie, involving the goofy birds.

The story takes place in pre-WWII backwoods Wisconsin. Todd is adopted by Widow Tweed after his mom dies and gets totally pwned because of a hunter (BAMBI????????). One day he encounters a puppy named Copper and the two soon become best friends after a series of broadway musical numbers. As Copper is being raised to hunt foxes, the two find themselves in a "I became friends with massuh's daughta" type of situation. While this is happening, two birds called Slinky and Soomber chase a worm for no apperent reason.

[edit] Then Some Stuff Goes Down

Copper is hunting with Slade and Master Chief one day when he comes across Todd. Once Todd convices Copper to spare him, Copper tells Todd to run away because he doesn't want to have to hurt him. So Todd runs off but is met by Chief before he can get back home.Chief chases him down and gets hit by a really evil train, because Chief is a dipshit. Copper for some reason assumes it was Todd's fault, he subsequentially breaks up his friendship with Todd and swears revenge.

[edit] OMG! What Happens Next?!

Todd is upset when Copper dumps him

So now the Widow abandons Todd in a game reserve because Slade is threatening Jihad bombings on her house because he wants to kill Todd so badly. Now Todd has lost his parents twice, making him a double orphan. He turns Emo, even getting his butt kicked by a senior-citizen badger. He meets a smoking hot female fox named Vixie. She is so hot she actually turns Todd completely red with blush the moment he sees her. Todd becomes a born again Christian swearing to never commit Sodomy again. So Vixie shows him around. They have a nice little fox hole where they live together, things seem to be going fine. BUT, Amos, GET THIS! Amos cuts though the barbe wire to hunt Tod! Copper comes looking for Todd to apologize and ask if they could get back together. He witnesses Todd and Vixie doin' the nasty, and this re-upsets him. Todd narrowly esapes from leg hold traps as Slade and Copper chase Todd and Vixie around the woods in attempt to maim them and devour their souls. While chasing them, a grizzly bear attacks Slade and Copper. Todd, upon seeing it, realizes he's still bff with Copper. He slays the bear rescues Copper and they live happily ever after. That is, except for Vixey, who later decides to turn into a flying squirrel and change her name to Scratte, and rape the living shit out of Scrat the Squirrel/rat/thingee from Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinazarss. Meanwhile, the worm turns into a butterfly and pwns the two stupid birds. He says, "You thought you could outsmart me? You thought you could outsmart me? TAKE THAT!"

[edit] Characters

[edit] Todd and Copper

Todd is a red fox orphan who was adopted by an old fat lady. He grows close relationships with Copper, and eventally meets up with a hunky, sexy vixen he meets from next door. Copper is a bloodhound who was brought into a hunter's ranch to be raised as a hunting dog to replace the old hunting dog. Morbid idea being taught to the kids watching the movie, but hey, it is the truth, if your hunting dog is gonna die, gotta get a new one. Todd and Copper are the gods of Epcot in Disney. They're statue is higher than that of outer space. They have rid us of the things that we hate like Furbies, Teletubbies, Barney the !!!!y purple dinosaur, and The Simpsons, as well as Family Guy, American Dad, and the South Park kids.

[edit] Widow Tweed

The woman who adopts Todd after she finds him orphaned and lonely. How she managed to tame a wild fox kit who'd lost its mother is beyond me, but at any rate they grew to be close friends. Her main rival is Amos Slade, the neighboring hunter and resident Burt Reynolds impersonator.

[edit] Slade

Hunting expert and Burt Reynolds fan. He owns a 1921 Model T, custommized rims, subwoofers and backseat plasma TV screens. He is extremely miserable and his only release seems to be slaying innocent woodland creatures for sport.

[edit] Master Chief

The old, dying, soon-to-be-replaced hunting dog owned by Slade. He is irritated throughout the entire movie.

[edit] Vixie

Bow chicka wow wow. Vixie becomes Todd's girlfriend after Copper breaks up with him. Vixie is smoking hot.

[edit] Big Mama

A big, fat, loving barn owl. She playes the loving mother that can emphasize with Todd's situation. She is the one who usually bails Todd out of jail.

[edit] Tiger

Widow Tweed's pet cat who is jealous of Tod, but he is upset when Tod leaves the farm.

[edit] History

[edit] Background

The Fox and the Hound is a traditional name for an English pub. It came around in the long ago days when it was legal to hunt foxes with hounds within that fair land. The rouse was thus: the fox would stroll into said pub, for an afternoon on the gin (all foxes love gin), attracted by the friendly images of foxes and hounds in harmony. The fox would then, on arrival at the bar in said establishment, be greeted by a friendly hound, offering to buy him, a large gin. The hound would have a pint of the barkeep's finest ale, and the two would sit and drink. More drinks would be bought (the fox never paying, of course), until the fox was declaring his undying love for everyone. At this point, unbeknownst to the (now rather inebriated) fox, a man would walk up behind said fox and blow his brains out with a 12 gauge butter knife. Sadly, the government, in its infinite wisdom, declared this practice barbaric. It is considered more 'humane' to lay traps which force foxes to gnaw their own legs off or starve to death, or simply to walk right up to them in the street and blow their brains out without the comforting warm blanket of drunkenness and the (albeit false) friendly company of a gentlemanly hound. The pubs still remain to this day, although you won't find either the foxes or the hounds in them, instead, you will find foxy ladies, as well as a bloody 12 gauge butter knife embedded in the ceiling. You will, however, if you're lucky, still be able to make out the splatterings on their walls, although the landlords will assure you it's simply grime (and possibly chuck you out for insinuating such things).

[edit] Production

The story was solely based on Danbel Pee Matrix's 1997 novel of the same name. The book had a more outrageous story, dealting with the quest of a hunter and his dog Copper to shoot Todd after he killed the hunter's new dog Chief. The novel was mainly about Todd's life in the woods. While he was raised by humans he was not childhood friends with Copper and none of the animals spoke. The story was changed to make it less suitable for a family film; instead of a story about how society determines our roles despite our better impulses, it became an action movie about the life and death of a fox.

Originally, the film was a one and a half our production with an even deeper storyline. However, Disney cut out about a third of the movie to make sure it had room for all the action scenes. So after giving the floating head of Walt the finger, Don Bluth quit and decide to go solo. He failed, only successful with virgins. So then Bluth went on to do The Black Cauldron, and later The Land Before Time.

[edit] Reception

NOT ONLY was the film a critical success, but it is hailed as one of Disney's ALL TIME best movies, and despite making only sixty-six cents in profits, it well exceeded its expectations of fourty-one cents. It scored, $666,666,666,666,666 on its budget with the critics giving out positive review, as the Nostalgia Critic said, "On a scale of 10, it is 1,000% of awesomeness. This movie will pwn me forever!". Rotten Tomatoes gave this a fresh 1,000%. Oh, and the native critic, Angry Video Game Nerd said, "This movie kicks BUTT, man!" It gained a cult following, become a hunting propaganda film in small rural areas throughout Wales and central Europe, and has been called by Hayao Miyazaki "absolutely marvelous. I could NEVER have made a movie THIS GOOD!" Roger Ebert, however, made his critism. He said, "It's good, yes, but not as good as My Neighbor Cthulhu. In fact, no movie is as good as My Neighbor Totoro, so that makes this this secound best."

Though, the reception for the first movie had positive reviews, the second one encountered some very negative reviews. That's right, another direct-to-video piece of crap sequel to a Don Bluth movie (see The Fox and the Hound 2. Rotten Tomatoes gave it -55%, this over half negative! Roger Ebert said, "4nd on the Top 5 Worst Films of 2006! It is 100 times of gayness!" Even the Nostalgia Critic said, "What the hell is this crap? I died of fucking cancer after watching this sequel!"

[edit] Sequels

Because of the huge... JUST HUGE... success of the first movie, multiple sequels were made.

[edit] The Fox and the Hound... Steal Money!

The Fox and the Hound Steal Money is the first sequel to this all time hit Disney thiller. It is rated PG-13 for adult language and was made due to the film's critical success. Origanally it was to be called The Fox and the Hound 2, but it was changed to indicate key plot points. Tod and Copper are mean to each other, so they decide to steal money from the bank before the police animals arrive. Hannah smells lovely says the fox to the hound.

[edit] The Fox and the Hound 2

Bouncywikilogo5.gif
For those without comedic tastes, the so-called experts at Wikipedia have an article about The Fox and the Hound 2.

Because of the success of The Fox and the Hound Steal Money, a SECOND sequel was made. This one was, unfortunetly, pure crap. Todd and Copper are back as PUPS in a SEQUEL and are rapeing each other when Copper suddenly joins a DOG BAND! DOG BAND! WTF! So now Todd is jealous because Copper has abandoned him. BOR-ING!

[edit] The Fox and the Hound: Death Revenge

After the failure of the last film, The Fox and the Hound 2, Disney decided to make another sequel, but this time, it's succuessful. Rated PG-13 for Some Scary Images, Adult Language, and Some Horror Violence, this was a hit compared to the last film. Yes, they're pups, like the last one. However, unlike the last one, they became evil and decided to rape every people in the human race and Lily yelled, "FOX AND THE HOUND!"

[edit] Dialogue

There was actually a deleted conversation between Tod and Copper just after Amos decided not to shoot...

COPPER: So I guess we’re friends then?

TODD: Yeah. It’s gonna take more than you trying to murder me and Vixie to change that.

COPPER: Cool. So... I’m heading back home...

TODD: I guess I’ll see ya ‘round then.

COPPER: Oh. I was kinda hoping you’d come too... you know, we could frolic like old times and stuff?

TODD: Copper, you can go home with Amos if you want. But I’m going *this* way to get some.

COPPER: Get some what?

TODD: I'm not sure, but I'm sure It'll be a lot of fun finding out.
