[edit] Intro
Toon Zone (also called "Toonzone" by people who love watching short-fused administrators get their panties in a wad) is a popular web portal focusing on animation-oriented journalism, discussion, debates on whether Kagome or Kiyone are hotter, whether or not Matt Wilson is the most elaborate prank ever, and shameless Bob Saget fanboyism. The web portal, which is divided into news, forums, political flamebaiting, web hosting, and lousy site security, was created under the guidance of Brian "Brian" Cruz, Eileen "Harley" Delgadillo, and Colin "Heh heh, he said 'Colin'" Feder. Although Toon Zone's history dates back to 1994, when it was well below the age of consent and should not have been dating in the first place, the current incarnation of the site launched on exactly August 24, 1998-ish.
[edit] What's it all about, anyway?
Toon Zone primarily focuses on Americans and Japanese, which has brought about alegations of racism by Visigoth special interest groups. Toon Zone's official stance on this controversy has been summarized in this press release by editor Jay "Bob Saget" Allman:
We here at Toonzone would like to apologize to the Visigoth community for our insensitivity, but we don't have to. So BIG FAT VISIGOTHS BIG FAT VISIGOTHS. Go ahead and sue, see if we care.
The news section, whose front page is styled after popular online magazine Fark, publishes news about all varieties of hentai, as well as rumors, reviews, rumors, flames, rumors, fanboy arguments, rumors, flat-out lies, and sometimes rumors. Toon Zone also features web sites hosted by Bob Saget, but its most recognizable feature is its message boards. Both are dedicated to subjects such as the DC Comics and Gary Coleman animated universes.
[edit] The Forums
The Toon Zone forums were begun well before the conception of Toon Zone one regretful night in Las Vegas. A young Mexicali named Roger Smith began the forums on a dare from one of the bullies at his school who threatened to "pwon" him if he didn't. Roger began the forums in early 2004, and was promptly banned three hours later. Roger's final words on the forum were that he would someday "BE ONE, OF THE TOMATOES." Much speculation has been made about this cryptic remark by the more anal moderators of the Cafe Toon Zone, but they have mostly agreed that half the forum should be banned for "violations" of the "terms of use."
The single greatest poster ever was Style 92.
This title used to belong to Pupmon 4.0 until she was banned from the forums for an excessive use of "birthday threads" and being just plain annoying.
[edit] Terms of Use
A document which allegedly governs the conduct on the Toon Zone forums. Members with IQs over 10 have actually read the ToU, and have found them to be little more than a hastily scribbled grocery list on a Stuckey's receipt that very nearly became a rolled joint by long-time member and anarchist Psycho "Yhea" Fox.
[edit] Spinoff Sites and Growth
Staff members of the Termite Terrace forum launched Golden Age Cartoons, their own domain dedicated to classic Warner Bros., MGM, Columbia, and other animated shorts of the so-called golden age of animation. They are now also unemployed.
The site consists of original content that Toon Zone created, or accepted under their banner. The website The World's Finest, the best animated DC resource online and easily the most popular "TZ site," has brought in literally tens of thousands of new visitors and includes the most popular Animated DC forum online, online since 1998.
You guessed it. Most DC animators are now also unemployed.
Industry insiders have considered hacking the toxic mind rays of Harley "Harley Delgadillo" Delgadillo to see what could be causing this phenomenon, but were destroyed in the very process of thinking that.
