More often then not, I've had to spend at least a minute explaining to a banned user how little I cared about Famine banning them for being a vandal. This has kept me from doing other things, like pretending to care if I have one foot or two.   • Nom+For This guy has been editing since January, and from what I can see, he's useless. I encountered him in IRC, where he was flooding, spamming, and being a general asshat. He then proceeded to vandalize my userpage, knowingly and willingly. I looked into it, and found that A) He's contributed nothing useful, and B) He has violated the vanity "policy" several times. In featured articles like AAA, and others, he simply writes passages worth of unfunny shit, whilst leaving his mark of vanity on the page. Sysops can block people, delete pages, and see deleted edits; bureaucrats can make people into sysops or other bureaucrats; staff can do all of that, plus de-sysop or de-bureaucrat someone, as well as see a logged-in user's anonymous edits (or an anonymous user's logged-in edits), remove edits from the database, and probably some other stuff that I've forgotten. Only Staff can give bot powers, and only bureaucrats can give rollback power to users. In practice, I believe bureaucrats and sysops have almost the same power in practice, since op-ing in controlled by VFS on this wiki. I've seen this kind of shit before and I've read the man's rant (not to mention people who buy the general principle) and all that I can say is give me a fucking break. He's discussing the typical evolution of a site like it was a descent into hell. It's ultimately not a concept to be ruled with an iron fist by limited individual perspectives.

The community sets the standard to some degree, period. Zillions of people aren't going to come to this site to blow a handful of writers who think they are the arbiters of all that is entertaining.
