For those without comedic tastes, the self-proclaimed experts at Wikipedia have an article about F.R. Leavis.

A murderous, dissilusioned literary critic who created the "Leavisite Canon". Leavis believed himself to be all knowing regarding literary works, and fired his canon upon all those who were not great enough to be included in his book, "The Great Tradition"

In 1970, the last alliance of literary geniuses went into battle with Leavis, lead by Mr McMechan. McMechan's army, including J.D. Salinger, Joseph Conrad and Emily Bronte, were all but destroyed in the battle, although McMechan himself survived, trapping Leavis in a Mills and Boon novel.
