Director Clive Barker.

Hellraiser is a series of childrens comedy films exploring the themes of sadomasochism and morals under duress, but as the audience and/or critics didn't find the films very funny, and they jokingly dubbed them as 'horror films'. Clive Barker wrote a novella called The Hellbound Heart. After the novella became critically acclaimed, he thought that he might become successful as a director, and even as a screen writer. Barker is certainly an ambitious homosexual, so it's obvious that his film will be fabulous, too.

The films[edit]

Hellraiser (1987)[edit]

Directed by Clive Barker.

Country: - United Kingdom.

The film was intended to be a comedy film, but the audience didn't find it much funny, and eventually panicked. The basic plot revolves around a puzzle box which, when properly manipulated (much like genitals), summons the cenobites, and they have to come immediately leaving whatever task they had at hand and assist the user in a wonderful journey through their world of torment, suffering, uneasiness and S&M with an underlying message of S&M.

Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)[edit]

Directed by Tony Randel. filmed in Technicolor.

Country: - United Kingdom.

Clive Barker lost his post of director for the failure of the first movie. Meanwhile, Doctor Channard is sent a new patient, Kirsty Cotton. As she lies in a psychiatric hospital, kirsty is haunted by the sight of the unspeakable unsnekable horror that destroyed her family. The only person buys her story is a n00b i.e. young assistent of Dr. Channy, known to others, and himself, as kyle MacRae. Afterwards, Channy becomes a cenobite himself, and dies. Other cenobites died, too, in a civil war, and the film became gloomy. Many critics and spectators said that watching the film was an heartbreking experience. However, in this film, the iconic silent film comedian Leviathan had a cameo, and somewhat lightened the film a bit, he received an Academy Award for the cameo.

Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992)[edit]

Directed by Anthony Hickox.

Country: - Uncle Sam

The U.K. despised being the country of hellraising, and US grabbed the opportunity. As expected by the prejudiced half-wits, Hellbound: Hellraiser II, like its preceding film, failed to make the audience chuckle, even guffaw. So director changing went on. This time the old good cenobite Pinhead is trapped, along with the frightening puzzle box, in an intricately carved pillar with writhing figures and distorted faces etched on the surface, his fearful condition can be understood easily. The pillar is bought by the rich and spoiled J. P. Monroe (Kevin Barnhardt), owner of an infamous club aptly named The Boiler room, which was, in fact, a concentration camp where new, unsuspecting uncyclopedians were burned. An ambitious young television reporter, joey Summerskill (Terry farrell), slowly begins to learn about Pinhead and the puzzle box.

Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)[edit]

Directed by Alan Smithee.

Country: - U.S.A

Learning from experience, the producers decided to abandon the intention of making a comedy Hellraiser film, and aimed at making a horror one. Naturally, it was a failure once again, and the film was dubbed 'boreraiser' by critics and fans alike. As a result, Pinhead refused to perform the action sequences in the film, and stuck to talking, eventually making it more boring. The film allegedly has something to do with the Lament configuration, and a toymaker named Philip Lamerchand.

Hellriser: Inferno (2000)[edit]

Directed by Scott derrickson.

Country: - U.S.A.

Hellraiser: Inferno is more of a psychopathic thriller take on the Hellraiser series. The plot is about a intelligent cop who lets greed and corruption completely destroy his life and all of the people in it. By the end, all the characters are dead, and the main character is sent to Hell by Pinhead, so that he may live again and again.

Hellraiser: Hellseeker (2002)[edit]

Directed by Rick Bota.

Country: - U.S.A.

Hellraiser: Deader (2005)[edit]

Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005)[edit]
