Discoverd by Thomas Edison in 1877, the men were all tall, musclular, golden-haired and bronze-skinned (resembling Ron Ely, Jr), while the women were raven-haired beauties, whose ample bosoms were covered in the sheerest diaphonous gowns.
As soon as Edison and his youthful ward Henry Ford arrived on Mars, the High Martians set about setting up souvenir shops, casinos, "Raven-Haired Beauties in Diaphonous Gown" whorehouses, and "re-enactments" of their "proud and ancient history" (at 2 bits a head).
Aside from a few who escaped and founded a colony in Venice Beach California, all of the High Martians died in 1999 due to chicken pox. Ruins of the "Mars Or Bust" Hotel/Casino remains on the Plains of Cydonia, and are visible as a giant head, resembling Rosie O'Donnell from orbital probes.
They also brought across the seed to plant the very first hat in Bulgaria.
