James "Sonny" Crockett on the Job

James Crockett, known as "Sonny" to his friends, is a legendary police detective who spent much of his career in the Dade County P.D. He gained widespread fame when the exploits of himself and his partner Ricardo Tubbs were dramatised in Miami Vice television show that ran for five seasons beginning in 1984. During this period every man on earth realized that Crockett was one of the top-ten coolest people of all time, and decided to emulate everything about him, including his trademark fashion sense that includes white or pastel suits with a t-shirt and a three-day growth of beard stubble. This led to a lot of painfully un-cool people walking around looking like hairy easter eggs, because they simply weren't awesome enough to handle the wardrobe.

Unfortunately, this widespread notoriety had a terrible side effect, since once the show hit the air every criminal in the country could identify Sonny Crockett. This is not a good thing when you make your living as an undercover cop. After several near-death experiences, Crockett retired from active duty, though several enemies of the state, including known drug dealer Alejandro Sosa, terrorist dickhead Osama Bin-Laden, and a coalition of famous Rap-singers, all continued to make attempts on his life.

Though Crockett was able to stop these threats with a few carefully placed pistol shots, the annoyance was so great that he eventually changed his name and left the public spotlight.

Although unconfirmed, many of Crockett's disciples and fans believe that he is still working as a cop, under the false name "Nash Bridges".
