The instances of me-too-ism in British politics are on the rise as it becomes more American and thus blander (whilst still managing to be more ostentatiously flashy, no more Michael Foot on a Skateboard like antics), more right-wing and more George W. Bush|presidential.

The rot set in, as with many such maladies of the political establishment, with the death of St. John of Smith and subsequent selection of Tony Blair as leader of the Labour Party. The torch (very much like their logo) has now been handed to the Tory Party.
